Open source software (OSS) is most well-known for its license, which allows to use it free of charge. However much more important than that is the freedom that comes with this license. It allows consultants, programmers and users to customize an application to suit their indiviudal needs.

There are different ways to design the layout of a web page. The most common are HTML and CSS tables. In the past, tables were favored by many web designers, but with better support for CSS in new browsers, it became obvious that CSS is the better choice. Smaller pages, faster loading times, better accessibility and better search engine performance are the chief advantages of CSS.

You might wonder: Yet another blog about web design and SEO? Aren't there enough like this?

Yes, you are right!

But still - the same things can be said all over again

• for a different audience,
• in a different environment,
• to point out different aspects,

and many other reasons could be given to write about something that others have said before.
